On Friday I received an email from a trusted source in Juba saying that an SPLM parlamentary cantidate had been murdered in his Juba home. This morning I have received word that the man’s name was Zacharia Bol & my research seems to indicate he was the current representative from Abiemnhom County.
Sadly, there are no news outlets reporting this.
As we march closer to the mid-April elections in Sudan, tensions will likely rise and many fear more violence waits on the horizon. But we have not been given a spirit of fear (2 Tim 1:7), so let me encourage you toward another end – prayer.
During my time in Sudan, I learned one thing about the men & women who work on the ground, reaching across tribal and ethnic lines in an effort to provide their neighbors with clean water – they are fearless because they pray without ceasing.
On Satruday, our WiB field director, gathered all the churches in Yei together at Freedom Square to pray, asking God to bring peace to Sudan. Let’s, join them.
From now until April 13th, when the ballot boxes are sealed up, I challenge you to daily pray for Sudan, asking God to raise up worthy leaders and let his peace reign no matter the outcome.
You can follow us on twitter for daily prayer needs (or grab them off the home page of waterisbasic.org).
