Water is BasicOctober 23, 2009 100 for 100Hello WiB supporters. We have really exciting news - the 100th well is getting extremely close. 100. Can you believe that? This past spring, after two years of wrestling logistics, we began drilling in earnest. And in the short time since, we've gone from just a handful of wells to nearly 100. At last reporting, which took us through the end of September, the well count was at 92, which means that we are eight away from celebrating an incredible milestone. To put it into perspective, 100 wells means that 200,000 Sudanese who once had to walk several miles across dangerous terrain now have fresh water just a few paces from their homes. 100 wells means that thousands upon thousands of Sudanese children have hope of making it past their 5th birthday because they won't have to worry about water born illness. 100 wells means that 200,000 people in Southern Sudan now know that God & his people are about quenching thirst - and this goes beyond water & physical thirst. In a region of the world devastated by dozens of years of civil war & generations of tribal conflict, you can't measure the impact that God's living water can have. Water is Basic enables Sudanese to help Sudanese, which, we pray, fosters a foundation of peace, opens hearts to the Gospel and leads to reconciliation between neighbors. We don't have plans of stopping at 100 & know that if we are going to enable another 100 wells next year it is going to take all of us working together. And that's what is incredible about Water is Basic - this has never been about the large support of a few, but the small support of many. In that spirit, will you consider donating or raising $100 to help us celebrate that 100th well? There are few places in the world where a single dollar can do so much. Can you imagine the impact we can make if each of us gave $100 & encouraged our friends to do the same? There are a couple of very easy ways to give: Here at waterisbasic.org, just click here. Or, if you're on Facebook, you can give through our cause page. Thanks for all your support! Trey <- Back to: Home |
