Hey friends…
This morning, Steve Roese, Dave Stevens & I hopped into Bishop Taban’s Land Cruiser & drove 25 miles from Yei to Morobo. It rained pretty hard last night, so the roads were fairly tricky. We passed several large trucks that had slid off the road, we even saw one smaller lorry that had overturned. Needless to say, in the dry season it is tough to get around, the wet only makes a bad situation much worse.
The 25 mile journey took us nearly three hours. If I have learned one thing here it is that things take time.
In fact, most of the well reports we get are about 30 days behind real time. Nothing travels fast in Southern Sudan & it took me coming here to understand why.
But this piece of news is 100% real time.
We watched as water spewed out of the bore hole for the 100th time. I’m happy to report that in a day or two the people of this village in Morobo county will have access to clean drinking water for the first time thanks to the generosity of people like you.
While 100 wells is an incredible achievement (especially under the circumstances that are daily life here), there is still so much to do. We still need your help – maybe more now than ever.
This project started as a Sudanese dream & to this day remains 100% Sudanese run. I can tell you, they have no plans of stopping at 100. They want to add another rig, to go into Darfur and to triple the number of wells next year.
So, they need your help & there are two ways that you can do that:
1. Visit waterisbasic.org & make a donation to celebrate this incredible milestone – any amount can help.
2. Tell your friends, families & co-workers about Water Is Basic.
I have been putting images on my Facebook page from my time here. I will be posting more as time (and internet access) allows. You can find my Sudan album by clicking HERE.
Thanks for everything you do to enable these people to help bring clean water to Southern Sudan.
